BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge 14-1-19
L/O: to explore how BBC radio 1 meets its PSB remit and meets the needs of its target audience.
Public broadcasting includes radio, television and other electronic media outlets whose primary mission is public service. This means that it is not intended to make money instead it is intended to entertain the public. By being a PSB channel it means that thing such as the BBC have a strict guideline yo follow.
Radio 1
Aimed at 15-29 year olds, which means that they have to revolve their music and content around the trending themes within this age range. The language of the presenters is restless and energetic, often using informal, everyday language that may include some slang and intertextual references to pop-culture.
Remit:
The remit of Radio 1 is to entertain and engage a broad range of young listeners. Its target audience is 15-29 year olds. Support emerging artists- especially those from the UK, and provide a platform for live music.
Radio 1 have met the remit because when on the home page there is a large variety of modern music that ranges from grime to pop music, which is targeted towards the younger generation. On the website they have used a bright modern colour pallet which attracts the eyes of the younger generation. Radio 1 has used the pictures on the website because they are made to look interesting to the modern eye. On the Radio 1 website they have a lot of content that ranges from podcasts to live music, this is because they have to meet the remit so that means they have to produce content that engages a broad range of young listeners. The remit says that they have to support the emerging artists and this is shown on the website where there is up coming artists that don't have a large following and they are promoting there music to the audience. Radio 1 has provided a platform for live music via live lounge, where they give a platform for upcoming artists to perform live to a large audience that could show an interest in the music.

Convergence
The merging of previously distinct media technologies and media forms due to digitisation and computer networking.
By being able to access the live lounge via VEVO, the BBC gets a larger audience, they gain publicity, they get money. The advantage for VEVO is that they gain money form the license fee, they will gain a larger audience. The advantage for the audience is that they have more platforms to view the content, there is no time limit to how long the video is available.
Exclusive content that is only available on the live lounge link, interactive audience people can send in questions. The audience has a choice in how they watch and listen to the show and what is in it
Regulation 17-1-19
L/O: to explore how the BBC is regulated
The radio industry is regulated by Ofcom, who also covers the TV industry. Ofcom's duty is to examine complaints made against radio stations, to determine if the broadcasting code has been breached.
Ofcom's Role
-Ensuring the optimal use of the electro-magnetic spectrum.
-Ensuring a wide range of TV and radio services of high quality and appeal.
-Maintaining plurality in the provision of broadcasting.
-Applying adequate protection for audiences against unfairness or the infringement privacy.
-Ensuring that a wide range of electronic communications services - including high speed data services - is available throughput the United Kingdom.
- Applying adequate protection for audiences against offensive or harmful material.
Plurality: ensuring there is a diversity of viewpoints available and consumed across and within media enterprises.
-Material that might seriously impair the physical, mental or moral development of people under eighteen must not be broadcast.
-In the provision of services, broadcasters must take all reasonable steps to protect people under eighteen.
-Children must also be protected in the form of appropriate scheduling ensuring that they are not privy to material that is unsuitable for them.
Appropriate scheduling means that the broadcasting channel put different shows on at different time such as graphic content after a certain time such as 9:30 in the afternoon, and maybe cartoons just after school finishes.
The show is about classical music, it will run 5 days a week on the weekdays. It will include classical music and also question and answers. It will be broadcasted from An area that has a high population of the older generation, such as London, Spain and France. We would have to be aware of the standard midday rules set by Ofcom, and it must be family friendly so if a kid watches it, it won't be full of graphic content. The target audience is 45-70 year olds. Male and Female. We would broadcast from 9am to 3pm, because the older generation tend to get up quite early in the morning and we don't want the radio station to go on all day. We would advertise this program on the radio and also before the news programs in the morning.

I have chosen this design because it has a blend of colours that connote to youth and also colours that connote to old age. Also it catches the eye when you see it because of the colour pallet. Swell the name fits the radios purpose.
