BBC School Report what is news?

In 1973 Blumer and Katz developed 'the uses and gratification theory' arguing audiences consume media text for one or more of the four reasons.

People use media for:
-Socialisation
-Information
-Entertainment
-Surveillance

Fake news is news that is made up to annoy or to make people believe things that are not true.
-Pope Francis shocks the, endorses Donald Trump for president.
-Donald Trump sent his own plane to transport 200 stranded marines.
-Ireland is accepting Trump refugees from America
How to spot fake news:
-Who published it.
-When was it published.
-Is it backed up with data.w

When someone is bias it means that someone prefers one side of an argument to the other.
-A football referee prefers one team to another.
